Markimekko is a Finnish design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colors. Founded in 1951, Marimekko has remained true to its mission of bringing beauty and joy to everyday life over these many years. The brand specializes in timeless, yet distinctive designs for fashion, accessories and home decor all the while marrying creativity with function. This vision aligns so well with Olson House's mission in bringing consciously crafted products and thoughtful interior design to your homes.Teresa, Olson House shop owner, met Anna Hakkarainen, Head of U.S. Sales for Marimekko, in New York the start of this year and a natural connection transpired. Anna communicated so well Marimekko's mission and desire to partner with shops just like ours. When Olson House opened 3.5 years ago, Teresa focused on showcasing smaller brands that created product just as thoughtfully and creatively designed as Marimekko. Now, as Olson House has established itself as a go-to for local and Nordic design pairing, it feels right to add a curated collection of Marimekko products to the mix. Our hope is that you will see how seamless the iconic Marimekko brand looks next to Milwaukee local makers and brands like Finarte, Mums, and Lapuan Kankurit.
This year Marimekko is celebrating 10 years of Oiva, their classic tableware collection; how serendipitous that this is the year Olson House welcomes Marimekko tableware, kitchen textiles and accessories to Milwaukee! The first shipment of Marimekko products arrived this month. We celebrated with a launch party on March 12 with Anna from Marimekko, customers, food, drinks and smiles all around.
